S6 Subjects - law

i want to do law at glasgow uni. I am an adjusted offer student , i’m doing the reach programme and i’m predicted an AAAAC in highers (mods, english, business, admin and a C in higher apps)
today at school we got our S6 columns and i had to change some of my subjects

Now i’m doing
- Ah Business
- Ah English
- H media
- H Human bio
- H History
but i’m crash highering 3 highers but in S5 i crash highered admin in S5 so ik what’s it like.
Am i likely to get really bad results with these subjects? I’m willing to work really hard but also hopefully will change Ah english to something a bit easier after summer

honestly you don’t need to do 5 subjects; i think two advanced highers and a higher will suffice

Agreed - you want to max out your chances of getting into law with good grades while also doing subjects related to it. Human bio is great, and I take it - would definitely recommend, but only if you're pursuing STEM. For law, you'd need at least one AH, in English, so do not drop that. Humanities are generally pretty good; if your school has something like history, geography, RMPS, politics, philosophy, pick 1/2 of these, as they will better equip you than something like business or human biology.
Sure, meeting entry requirements is important. But doing subjects you like and are related to your course is even more important. Reach is great, by the way.
And asking if you 'will do bad' in these subjects is redundant, in a way; no one knows your or is aware of your capability but yourself; other people's opinions will not determine how well you do or not do.
I wish you luck, though, in your exams and getting into university! And I hope this helps 🙂

I wanted to do Geography/Politics but the school won’t let me because of column issues but my mums gonna phone them and hopefully they fix it!

Sticking with Advanced Higher English and Business and Higher History is a good idea for law, in my opinion. They are all useful and liked subjects for law.

To be honest, you don't need to take any more subjects than that because you're doing enough highers this year. It might even be a bad idea taking more than one other subject on top of these (and if you do it should be a Higher) because the workload will be too much.

Higher Media and Human Biology are not relevant to law, so I don't see a point in taking them unless you really want to as neither are going to help you out.

And with a reduced amount if subjects, maybe it'll open up space for Higher Geography or Politics in your timetable. I would say that taking either of these, but especially Politics, would be a nice addition to English, Business, and History, but if you can't take it those three will be great on their own.

Hope this helps and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask me! 😊

I totally understand what you mean.

Unfortunately my school forces us to take 5 subjects which is excessive and teachers always argue about it with the deputes but yeah. I dont wanna do media but unfortunately with how the columns work I will have to unless there is a change by June.

With Biology, the reason i’m picking it is so that i can get a qualification in science as i got a D in N5 Chem so i dont wanna leave school with just that.

Thanks so much tho i really appreciate it!
