Offer to start in year 2 as UK student

Hi I have an offer for ECA (fine art) to start in year 2, will I be the odd one out or is this quite normal? I assume it is because I am RUK and am doing my art foundation from home. Just looking for opinions, pros and cons please. I love Edinburgh and it was my dream throughout 6th form but this is worrying me slightly. Thanks.

Is there an option for year 1 as well or is it just 2nd year

I've been offered year 2 which suits me budget wise but I am slightly worried I will be in minority and everyone will be in their own friendship groups already.

Hi! The same thing has happened to me too! I’ve got an offer for the textiles course at eca for the second year and I’m worried about making friends when everyone already knows each other. I’m guessing it’s quite normal but I don’t really know anything about it either, I’m going to try find out more at the offer holder day

Hi! So happy for you and your offer! I applied for first year fashion at ECA and sadly didn’t get in. I want to re apply to fashion next year at ECA for second year entry. Is there any chance you would mind sharing your portfolio with me? I really felt I did a good job but clearly not good enough haha so would be really helpful for me to see a portfolio for a similar subject that was successful! Thank you

Hi! I was also offered to start in 2nd year at ECA, from what I've heard it can be a bit of a challenge at first, but when I visited the uni for the offer holder day they explained that students starting in the 2nd year get buddied up with a student who continued in from their first year. I've accepted it as I think the short challenge will be worth it long term. I wouldn't worry  and if things are challenging, at least you won't be alone
