The Student Room Group

University of Semmelweis or University of Nicosia

Semmelweis was my fream uni for a while to say the least. However, after I got accepted, I started hearing stories about how 90% of their exams are oral and I HATE ORAL EXAMS. Ialso hear about how most of the patients during clinical speak only Hungarian so its hard to actually gain any knowledge from them, the uni has no student support, and no dormitories, so it will be extremely hard to socialize and stuff.

As for uni of nicosia, apparently 80 percent of people speak English, so no problems with socializing nor communicating with patient during clinical years (though I might need to learn greek which is an easier language to learn than Hungarian). Its a private school and seems to be more focused on making sure its graduates can undergo residencies all around the world, while uni of semmelweis is more focused on getting their graduates into the eu........(Semmelweis is still accredited worldwide, but Uni of Nicosia are MORE FOCUSED on getting some graduates North America etc, and have better career counselling)

The only big disadvantages with Uni Of Nicosia are: it is ranked much lower than semmelweis, is a new school(the medical school is just over a decade old), and it is slightly more expensive than semmelweis.

Please, if any of you guys are going to either of this universities or have gone to any of the unis. Could you share your experience. THANK YOU:smile:)))
