How do i drop citizenship

hey guys
so ive never been good at citizenship ever since i started yr7, i was never any good at history and well citizenship has a lot of heavy history content. so ive been meaning to drop it ever since yr9 when the kids in the year above us got letters saying that they could choose to keep doing gcse citizenship or drop it and use the extra time to focus on other subjects. our year group was told that we could drop it at the end of yr10 after our mocks, but we never heard anything after that. then at the start of year 11 some of us asked our head of year and she said no we cant do anything until after the december mocks, we were threatened with sanctions if we purposefully were trying to fail and get kicked off, yet even after the december mocks, still nothing. fast forward to now mere weeks before the exam and she made it clear she will not remove any of us from the list now because shes entered our names into the exams. but honestly im just confused on why im still here because ive been getting 3's and 4's since the beginning, i dont care for citizenship anyways since its not valued as a real gcse by some unis and i dont want to waste time on it when i have other subjects i need to get better at. i dont know what to do

Have you considered simply not wasting any time revising for it and/or not turning up for the exams?

i mean thats what ive done for ages ive never revised it bcs im not interested in it, missing tests wouldnt matter the school just makes you do them when youre back. the point im making is i dont want to do the exam and want to drop the subject before the real gcse so i dont get a U on results day for missing it

Well, if your school are forcing you to continue with it, there's not much you can do. However, when forced to sit tests you can put in zero effort. If you skip the actual GCSE exams, you won't get a "U", you'll get an "X". That means "unable to issue a grade because the student was absent from all parts of the examination."

ohh? thats great then, wouldnt it affect my grade point average though when i have to calculate it? cuz i would be diving the total by an extra subject i didnt get any grade for? or could i just leave it out?

Well, that depends on how the grade point average is calculated. They may calculate is based upon the number of subjects for which you've been entered, rather than the number of subjects for which you have a grade.

I assume we're talking about entry to sixth form / college here? Each will have its own entry requirements. For those which use a grade point average, have they explained how they calculate it on their web site?
