Bath offer query

Hello,
I recently finally gotten an offer to the University of Bath, after a long wait.
But, I am quite confused...
Firstly I have to state I am please with my offer, My offer (which i got through UCAS) was a A A A or A* A B. i also got the same confirmation letter for Bath stating my grade requirements was the same. What I am confused about is WHY my offer is such. according to the website the typical offer should be A* A* A; the alternative offer (I do an EPQ, I haven't gotten the grade back for it yet -or when I first submitted my application- so my application shouldn't have any grade given for it) is A* A A or A* A* B. My offer in none of those but rather matched the contextual offer of A A A or A* A B, I don't think apply to any of the contextual eligibility criteria. Does Bath just fancy me more.... but in all seriousness, is this the case for other too?
Can they take back their offer and replace it with one which has higher grade requirements? Can I just say no to the change?

Hi there,

Firstly, congratulations on your offer! You should feel incredibly proud!

Secondly, you can be eligible for the contextual offer for lots of different reasons. If you are unsure of the exact reason, it is likely because your home postcode. On Bath's understanding contextual offers website it says:

"your home postcode is in an area of high socio-economic disadvantage (IMD quintiles 1 or 2)"

Contextual offers are automatic as well. So if you meet any of the requirements needed for one and Bath gives you an offer, it is automatically the contextual one.

I am unsure if universities can alter their offers. I do not believe they can, or if they can it is only under very exceptional circumstances. It tends to be the case that they accept a student they previously rejected, rather than changing a students required grades to higher ones.

I hope that answer helps!
