Hello...I am an international (southeast Asian) Student, and got offers from:
1. UCL - Information in Society basically studying in the areas of Information Technology, Information Science, and Social Science
2. King's - Digital Media & Culture, a combination of media, communication, culture, and technology
3. University of Birmingham - Business
4. University of Sheffield - Business
My career aspiration is to work with Tech companies or Consulting companies in the areas of technology and strategy.
My plan is to firm UCL and put King's as an insurance. My preference for UCL is based on the UCL broad reputation both domestically in the UK and globally...being top 5 UK and top 10 global. However, the Information in Society is a new program (this is going to be the 2nd cohort), with no alumni's track record or network in job markets yet. Secondly, it is based in new UCL East campus. I am not sure if it is considered "less prestigious" being in the UCL East campus vs central Bloomsbury campus?
Curriculum wise, I find it quite interesting. Although I would prefer if it has some business/management courses. But, I dont mind to study Master for a year later on, in the areas of business and management, if this would strengthen my future career aspiration.
As for King's, I would study in the central campus (Strand), and the curriculum does have some business related courses. However, the technological aspects is less strong compared to the UCL curriculum. And, I believe in terms of overall reputation, UCL is better than King's.
Do you think I make the right choice by firming UCL? Thank you.
