Do you need 2 facilitating subjects??

My current A-level options are History, English Lit and Film Studies, but I’ve been doing some research and I’m a bit worried about English Lit as my school does OCR which has notoriously high grade boundaries. I really enjoy English Lit but I’m worried I might not do as well as I want to, and it could bring my grades down which may hinder my chances of getting into a competitive uni. I’m considering Spanish as my third but I’d honestly really love to study psychology. I’m not entirely sure what career I want to go into in the future other than something linking to history, but I’m confident I will get good grades in these subjects. If I studied History, Psychology and Film Studies, would that affect my chances of applying to competitive universities??

The whole concept of 'facilitating subjects' was dumped by RG Unis years ago - Russell Group ditches 'facilitating subjects' A-level list

Current marketing legislation means that all Unis have to be entirely up-front and honest about what the entry requirements are - both required grades, and any essential of preferred A level subjects. What you read on the relevant course page of their website is what they mean - there is no secret info that only special people know about.

Have a look at the entry requirements for a range of degree subjects - and remember that many degrees have no required A level subjects, everything from Anthropology, Philosophy, to Law, Politics etc.
