Advice on University Decisions

Hello, I really need some help.

I currently school in NTU, I’m a 2nd Year Student in the Art Department, but for those 2 years have been very lonely. It’s gotten to the point where in thinking of leaving to go to UCA as it was my second choice. I feel as if NTU kind of failed me in many ways from their studying abroad to issues with socialising and well being.

I’ve started my UCA application, but the fear is really getting to me. So I’m not sure if I should try to manage my last year or I should take the chance and leave to UCA with an unknown outcome on if I’d be happy there or not.

Would really appreciate the help thank you

Have you got an offer from UCA to switch?

It’s rare to offer switches into year 3 for anyone but the strongest students - it’s a lot of pressure on students to settle in and do well with different academic background within a few months.

Hi there,

I am so sorry to hear that the last two years at uni have been quite lonely for you. Uni can be really hard when you feel like this and I understand how you feel.

I would echo what has been said already - have you spoken to UCA about a place here? And would you be able to go straight into your third year?

If you would be able to go into third year, I would say that this could be a risk worth taking. If you are really unhappy, you can't be any less happy at a different uni and you have a chance to have a really fun year. However, if you have to go into second year again, or even first year, I would say it would be worth sticking it out at the Uni that you are at now. I know you are unhappy, but if you have to do the years you have done again, it will feel like a really long process.

I hope some of this helps,

Lucy -SHU student ambassador.
