How do I avoid imposter syndrome + procrastination in the lead up to my trial exams?

It is roughly about 12 / 13 weeks before my Year 12 trial exams.

However, I’ve noticed that I feel as if I’m lazy for not doing enough revision / not working hard enough even if that’s not true and I’ve been doubting my own intelligence lately, ESPECIALLY with one of my chosen courses (OCR Computer Science, which imho, if you don’t know what’s going on, you’re screwed), and I’ve been neglecting it for that reason since I feel dumb and slow in that subject.

And also, procrastination is a big problem for me. I find it really hard to get started on a task due to how personally draining I find my time at sixth form, and I beat myself up about it when it’s too late.

Does anyone have any tips to combat these?

Hi,

I think it's totally normal to feel this way, it's easy to let Year 12 go by and just coast. Sixth form is hard and revision can be draining, I'd say don't try to schedule hours of revision, I know people may say 'I spent 4 hours revising', but it's just not sustainable, especially if you're a procrastinator!

Depending on the subject, 30 mins revise + 30 mins exam practice works well. Then take a break, repeat that maybe 2-3 times a day...maybe once per subject and you will have done far more than you realise without having to sit in one place getting bored!! It's easy to feel like everyone around you is making notes or making mind-maps etc, but each to their own and you have to find what works for you...so try to block out the noise. Also, phone in another room or in a box!

I was a crammer, unfortunately left it to the last minute to start working, I used the above technique and managed to smash it when it came to the real exams, not overdoing it, but being consistent in that final lead up
