Decorating uni room

Think this is the right place to put this.

Basically my uni room is proper dull and boring and I need to do it up!
Any ideas? Atm I only have like 2 posters.
I wanna make the room nice and girly. My bedding is pink but thats about it.
I wanna get more posters, like girly ones but don't know what shop to look in? The only places I can think of for posteres are HMV and Zavvi but have not found any I like!
And I was thinking of fairy lights and a nice lamp or something.
Think I'll pass on cushions as they'll just end up on the floor adding to the mess.
The room looks horrible as I have ugly curtains and brown carpet that I can do nothing about.
I could get a rug I guess.
What shops and places/websites should I be going into? (cheap:wink: )
Hmm what else??

Help me:biggrin:
Thanks

Have a look on eBay for posters. Pink lava lamp? Poundland/pound shops.

Ikeaaaaaaaa!

Print loads of 6x4" photos of you and your mates and stick them around your room. Buy some posters and decorate your room. Try and make your room nice and cosy. Mine's pinked out pretty much. My bedding are all pink (Primark/Argos/Woolies), my folders and files are pretty much pink (SU shop/WHSmiths), my PJs are pink (M+S), my dressing gown is pink (Primark), I have devil horns and tail from Halloween hanging off my curtain rail, birthday cards on my curtain rail, pink birthday balloons in one corner...

Just decorate it and make it pretty!!

this is my random plan for uni decoration when i go, hope this gives you some ideas (sadly, i've actually thought about this alot!)

i'm planning on taking my Sin City Poster, a couple of Radiohead posters, my Reading 2008 poster, a pin board, my mighty boosh tour poster, some random artwork, putting lots and lots of books on my shelf, dedicating a space on the wall for photos of people who i will miss, and also putting a year planner on the wall too. (yes, i know that sounds geeky, but i have to be organised otherwise i will fail, ha.) im also thinking of having some cube photo frames dotted around with pics in them if that's possible.

I also plan to have some kind of rug if possible, nice purple sheets, looooots of cushions to snuggle with, and room for a guitar somewhere.

just max it out with posters and stuff, that is what im planning to do

If you'd searched the forum, you would have found a thread on exactly the same thing.

get a big cork board and put loads of piccies up from good times/freinds/family.
fairy lights are also a really good idea...Ikea is the place so im told.
just suggesting what ive seen in my freinds rooms
I had a horrible grey carpet and cream walls when I first moved in to halls so I went to Ikea and got a huge red rug, picture frames, a lamp, cute things to put my pens in, etc. Sometimes unis have poster sales where you can pick up posters cheaply, otherwise, ebay!

Get some pink fairy lights! I got mine from John Lewis, they're in the shape of flower type things...

I don't have any posters. Instead I cut pretty pages from magazines I like. Dazed and Confused, Wallpaper and Vice have lots of nice ads and photoshoots..
My friends started sending me cards when I went to uni so I started decorating my wall with them and now I have a whole wall covered in them. Also I get people to send me postcards from abroad and I've started to put those on a different wall.
Fairy lights are brilliant- I adore mine. I also have huge bits of material which I pin up on the walls and drape over the desk and stuff to make it pretty and colourful.

My room is pretty dull at uni apart from the late victorian furniture, If you walk around london at night you get loads of cards and posters advertising events, i keep these on the top half of one wall and keep the other walls blank as they are filled with furniture, try sticking timetables up and maybe a bed throw?
Get a rug that makes quite a bit difference- course I only know that from the girls who live on either side of me cos i've never got round to going to buy one

Although you need to be careful with things like that - if you damage the walls/paintwork at all you can end up lumbered with a massivo redecoration bill at the end of the year - this can include not only damage caused by nails/screws, but also blu-tack/sellotape. Check your accommodation agreement before you do anything like putting mirrors up/changing curtains/putting up photo frames. Also check the agreement about things like fairy lights etc if you're planning on them - a lot of places don't allow them, and so it's a very good idea to unplug them whenever you're not using them if you get them.

why not put up blank peices of paper then u can draw and doodle watever you like on the walls also get people to sign the walls it will create loads of memories and you can just take the paper down and keep them!!
