Teesside mpharm course cancelled

Hi
Does anyone know if the MPHARM course at Teesside has been cancelled I did an interview during January no one has contacted me.

I can accept my place at Nottingham where communication has been excellent.

Is your sole reason for thinking that it might have been because Teeside haven't been in touch since your interview?

You would be bonkers to not take up the offer from Nottingham, which has one of the top 5 pharmacy schools in the UK. Teeside is lucky to even be called a university. An MPharm degree is tough wherever you do it, however, and you won't get by on partial commitment to pass the course with at least a 2.2 classification.

Hi DataVenia
The reason I ask is that I have had great communication from both UCAS and other Universities. I was told on the interview that this was Teesside’s first year with MPHARM.
Everyone would like to know as there is accommodation to book and plans to be made, essentially life continues- Lack of communication means many things such as poor organisation, weak management, no one cares. What is there excuse for not communicating?

They are probably understaffed.

Hey😊

Don't worry - our MPharm course hasn’t been cancelled! We’re still interviewing candidates and operating a gathered field process, which means we assess all applicants together before making offers to the highest scorers.

The UCAS decision deadline hasn’t been reached yet, so that’s why you might not have heard back just yet. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out to our admissions team at [email protected], they’ll be happy to help🎓

Thanks, N. 😊

I understand your frustration at the lack of communication. Some universities are better at that than others.

I was just curious how you'd lept from 'they haven't been in contact since my interview in January' to 'maybe they've cancelled the course". As you can see from the the post above from the Teeside rep, the course hasn't been cancelled.

You're obviously welcome to extrapolate their poor communication into "poor organisation, weak management, no one cares". In which case, perhaps you'd prefer to study MPharm elsewhere?

From what you have said - I have spoken to UCAS and accepted Nottingham- all done I can now get on with life.

It was a lucky escape I am glad I did not wait for a response from Teesside because they haven't responded even though it's been 5 months without even an email or any form of update and days away from UCAS deadline.
Now tell me Datavenia what's the story for not communicating - you have been here before: poor communication, weak management, no one cares. Blab, blab, blab.

Universities don't need to send decisions until mid May if you applied by the application deadline. Not all universities will send a barrage of generic emails in the interim confirming your application etc.

For the record, I got my offer (for an unrelated course) from UCL in mid May. It's not that unusual. I don't think I got a great deal of communication from their central admissions until after that point either (I may have received a "we received your application thank you" email in the meantime, although this really doesn't mean much), as it was only after I got the offer that I had to go and do stuff in portico (UCLs student and applicant platform), and later was invited to offer holder events etc.

I say the above to provide an anecdote to illustrate that it's not that unusual at even very large universities like UCL (which has I believe over twice as many students!) to not get a great deal of communication before an offer, nor to get offers quite late in the application cycle.

I TOLD YOU So.
I do not need an apology as I am going to a different university but what about all those students who did the MPharm interview hoping to goto Teesside.
You all knew Mpharm was going to be cancelled and did nothing, why didn't you tell the students who had been promised that the course would be running from 2025.

The @Teesside University rep said above, four weeks ago, that "our MPharm course hasn’t been cancelled!". You still seem to be of the opinion that it has been. What is your source / evidence?
