Law at southampton university

Hi, im applying for university this year and ive recently gained an interest in studying law at southampton. My main choice is kcl or ucl i think but i really doubt i would get it (i have 5's and 6's at gcse but extentuating circumstances due to family problems and AAA at alevel). In additon to this i really dont think i can afford to live in london. Therefore, i think southampton might be the better option. Is it hard to get into? i feel like its one of the more tame Russell groups-I have good super curriculars. Also whats your experiences like studying at southampton for law and whats the campus and social life like?

Hello @angelll-ll ,
Firstly Congratulations on your brilliant results, despite your extenuating circumstances. I am currently in my 2nd year studying law. I also moved out from London 2 years ago. From experience , I am glad to hear that you are considering Southampton law school because the law school has endless support in place for us (Students), we also get assigned with a personal academic tutor , who's there to support us through out 3 years as along side all the professors. The law school also puts emphasis on making sure we are made aware of certain networking events with firms and made aware of legal experience jobs.

Secondly, I would recommend you to have a look at the modules we offer, as we are a researched based university and our certain non-core modules can differ compared to other unis, have a look on our website to see if it interests you.

Thirdly, I would highly recommend you you sign up for one of our open days which is staring in June. This way , you will get to visit the Campus, city , halls of residence, meet current students like us, chat with professors and I believe it will be very informative and helpful.

Finally, studying law at Southampton is very enjoyable. As I mentioned the professors are always happy to help and the university makes sure all students are well looked after, in terms of career , financial help, well-being and more. The Law/Bar society, lawyers with our boarder society also host various event throughout the year , they host events such as , moot workshop, talk from trainees at different law firms.

The campus is very lively with everything one needs, gym, swimming pool, student bar, cafe, safety bus at night and we have over almost 400 clubs and society, thus there's always something going on.

I hope this answers your concerns, Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have more questions.

Best Wishes,
Student Ambassador,
Nusaba
