ghosted my boss

I need advice! I had the opportunity last year to do 4 months of unpaid work experience, one day a week for a company in my local area, and had a great time and the team were so lovely and supportive!
I finished in april, and they got in touch and said they would like to set something up that’s more permanent! At the same time, I experienced a loss in my family, and then another member had a serious health scare, i never got back in touch.
It go to the point where i couldn’t bring myself to tell them what had happened to me, but also was scared that i’d be in ‘trouble’ with them.
So, I somehow accidentally ghosted my boss one of the loveliest people i’ve ever met.
One year later, i still feel so guilty daily about leaving them in the mud and completely ghosting them, should i reach out, explain and apologise to her?
Or do i just leave it, and get over it?

Pull on ya big person pants, contact them as a public business they are bound to have a number. Explain what happened at the time and how you then became to embarrassed to get back to them. There might be no job for you but you will feel better just be brave and bite the bullet
To be frank, you were doing unpaid work experience on day a week - they probably haven't thought anything about it since.

Unless you have a specific goal in mind for contacting them (e.g. getting another work experience placement or applying for a job) this just seems a waste of their time and yours even if they do remember you.

yeah, that’s harsh but true hahaha i need to hear this and it’s a good point. I just want to apologise for being a **** and ghosting them as that’s not my character at all but it’s interesting to think they might not even be bothered. thank you!!

To help provide more context, it's not unusual in the world of work for employees who have worked somewhere for over a decade for example, to leave their jobs then have little or no contact with their coworkers afterwards even when on good terms!

So yeah just...don't worry about it honestly.
