I think section B is alright as I've done a couple of papers as prep for my final topic test a couple of months ago but some of the section A's I've seen can be really weird sometimes but as long as you know your practicals then I think its based off that. I would reccomend watching Zphysics paper 3 videos and a level physics online as they do good roundups and tips for preparing for paper 3A. Then practise, practise, practise becuase the more questions you do the more you develop the skills to solve unfamiliar problems when you see them (in my op).

Thank you. Need to do so well in this one after today.

if a practical came up last year such as resistivity of a wire, is it possible for it to come up again?

Reply 5

For astrophysics option
Could the x-axis of a hertzsprung russel diagramme be described as logarithmic/exponential ?
( as temperature does not change linearly)

It could but I highly doubt it, I hope there’s more of year 2 practicals cos I feel like I’ve alr forgotten paper 1 practicals 😭

How are you guys revising practicals? Like are you memorising the methods, or just variables? Practice papers? Idk what I’m doing tbh

I’m just doing practice papers tbh, like they don’t ask 6 markers it’s only 4, and it’s never the exact same as the practicals we do over the 2 year course it’s usually the same practical but in a different context or with a different method so you can’t rly prepare properly, but just reading up on the textbook and knowing the practicals is a good idea aswell if you can’t remember any that well!

My prediction is that the inverse square law will come up as it has been quite a while and something about g by freefall or interference (slits)

-spherical aberration
-chromatic aberration

Reply 15

guys what are you revising because idk where to even start

Reply 16

any tips on how to revise for section A? Are there any things that they tend to ask every year?

Reply 17

I have never done anything to do with 3A in my life. never looked at it, never thought about it. cooked.

Reply 18

3A is mind numbingly hard even the mark schemes don’t make sense

Just past paper practice. Ive noticed with the ones i’ve done they tend to make up practicals that relate slightly to what we have learnt. Repeated q’s like rearranging equations into log format, drawing graphs and uncertainty calcs.
