Oxford Brookes Publishing Media MA

Hello!
I'm considering applying for the Publishing Media MA at Oxford Brookes for 2025 entry, and I was wondering if anyone who has done the course/knows anyone who has would be willing to tell me a bit more about it?
The website is a bit vague on the timeline--is it a 2 year degree? It mentions a work placement year, is that a full year or just an internship/work placement in the summer/autumn after the taught first year?
And for anyone who's graduated from it, how did they find the work opportunities/networking offered during the course helpful for starting a career in publishing? Were there obvious employment opportunities from it?
Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Hi @anoymous #1,

Thank you so much for your message ☺️ It’s great to hear you’re considering applying for the MA in Publishing Media for September 2025 entry!

The MA in Publishing Media is a one-year full-time programme, or two years part-time.

While the course does not include a full placement year, there are opportunities for work experience throughout your studies. In addition, study trips and international book fairs are a key part of the course. Each year, students have the chance to attend the Frankfurt, Bologna, London, and Beijing International Book Fairs. These trips are optional and a fantastic way to gain insight into the industry and build professional networks!

If you wish to hear directly from a current student or recent graduate, feel free visit our student profiles webpage.

Please do let us know if you have any further queries!

Best wishes,

Clare
