midwifery at LSBU OR KINGSTON

Hi! I have offers from both Kingston and LSBU and I’m not sure of which one to choose? Anyone currently studying here? How is your experience?

Hi @Knhugcbk

Congratulations on your offers!! 🎉

Have you been invited to one of our offer holder days? I would really recommend these as they are what helped me decide to come to Kingston! These are held across uni's so are good to compare against your own pro's and con's to decide.

I got an insight into the campus, facilities, location, accommodation, lecturers for my course, and other offer holders for my course. It made me feel more at ease to get to see people before I meet them properly in September.

I personally have really enjoyed my time at Kingston. While mainly being at the school of art campus, I have got to experience the facilities all over. I also had a great time at shared halls and love the location of Kingston.

I hope this helped and please let me know if you have any other questions

Hi @Knhugcbk 😊

I am a current 2nd year student midwife going into my 3rd year soon!
To help with decision making, you could look at the hospital trusts offered at each university, what modules are offered at Kingston university. I know we have a mixture of assessments from oral assessments to creative presenting assessments. Also important to ask about what timetables could look like, I know at Kingston University when we are scheduled for placement blocks we do not have theory sessions and visa versa.

All in all my experience at Kingston university has been well supported by my personal tutor and lecturers. The course is well organised and if there were to be changes we are alerted in good time. The course in itself is highly rewarding and practical knowledge is aided by registered midwives which I enjoy.

If you have any more questions I am happy to help!

Hey there!
I’m currently a postgraduate student at LSBU, and I can share a bit about what it’s like studying here. LSBU has such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The students and staff are really approachable, and there’s a real sense of support, both academically and personally. One of the things I’ve loved is how practical and career-focused the teaching is. Our lecturers have years of industry experience, and a lot of the learning involves placements, and networking opportunities that prepare you for life after graduation.

If you’re looking at midwifery, we have fantastic simulation labs that are designed to replicate real-life clinical environments. They’re equipped with mannequins and realistic scenarios, so you can safely practise your skills before heading into placement. It really helps build confidence, and many students say it makes the transition into real clinical settings much smoother.

The campus is right in the heart of London, so you’re surrounded by amazing opportunities. Facilities are modern, with spaces for independent study, group work, and hands-on learning, depending on your course. Personally, I’ve found the support services really helpful, from careers advice to wellbeing support.

Do keep an eye on our website as our October Open Day will be live soon and it’s a great chance to visit the campus, meet lecturers, and explore your course options.
