What did you guys get for the final question about the shivering rat

I put that adenosine binds to receptors in the hypothalamus, hyperpolarising the neurones and inhibiting nerve impulses that are responsible for shivering.

i say around 210

Hmm but last year was 199, fair guess but I hope it’s not above 210 🥲

Omg I remember that 😭 I was so lost
I said something about adenosine reducing neural activity so then the heat gain centre couldn’t send impulses to erector pili muscles to cause them to contract or something like that

And then the previous question I talked about it an an inhibitory neurotransmitter pretty much

What did u guys this about for the question about how you could determine that T had a new mutation? Was it the fact the parents of T had to be homo recessive to not be affected and yet T had the disease (so had a dominant allele) from a mutation

omds same i stressed cuz i thought i was wrong- all of my q8 was done in a rush im so mad ab that - but i do feel like the last q was more about adenosine binding to receptors on hippocampus and hyper polarising it like the person above said - ig we won’t find out yet 🥲

That smart 😭 sounds much more logical than what I’ve put

Im sure it was tbh idk why I didn’t talk about hyperpilarisation 😭 I just talked about less depolarisation and less or no action potentials as a result

I thought it said that adenosine was reuptake so wouldn't that mean that there was less adenosine in the synapse so it couldntbind to receptors, can't depolariss, can't cause action potential, etc as opposed to hyperpolarisation

Yeah 😭 can’t wait to mess up again 😃 (I also have theology on that day and haven’t revised it in 3 weeks and there’s 12 topics for it)

Didn’t it say that they got doses of adenosine?

Ohh I thought they were talking about the affect of adenosine, i didn’t realise it was the one talking about uptake. I might have confused my answers 🥲

bro 💀 i actually worked it out and couldn’t get to 45
Fr I got like42or smt by actually adding them all up and then doing it idkif 42 is close enough to 45 to count

Not for the question about shivering, it said why don't they shiver when there's an uptake of adenosine I'm pretty sure I could be wrong tho

Goodluck as well!
Yeah I’ve already had two in one way last week but this time it’s a clash so I have to sit in isolation and I also think I’m going to be sitting the paper in a room with no others exams happening 😭
