DJCAD vs GSA

I don't live in Scotland so I don't have an idea of what it would be like to go to DJCAD or GSA for fine art/painting. Can anyone give me some local impressions?

Okay, so DJCAD is in the city of Dundee. I'll be honest, Dundee has a bit of a bad rep amongst Scots, but I honestly don't think it's as bad as people make out! It's a small city, and to be honest it is quite a grey looking place, but the art school is good. I have a friend who loves it there, and have heard it is a great student experience. It is not a very beautiful place but I think it is a fun place to study according to friends. Be aware that Dundee university is experiencing some financial issues at the moment, so I would investigate that and check whether it would affect the art school. GSA on the other hand is in Glasgow, which is Scotland's biggest city. I would say it has a much better art scene, with lots of galleries and exhibitions to visit. The art school is world renowned and has produced many successful artists. In my opinion Glasgow as a city is nicer, bigger, has more to see and do etc. GSA as an institution is much smaller than DJCAD and much more competitive to get into. I would recommend having a look at each of these institutions websites as well as maybe some info videos about each city. Hope this helps!

That is very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to write it.

I went to some video webinars, and another difference I gather is that students are expected to be much more independent at GSA and pursue their own agendas from the beginning, whereas at DJCAD there are structured studies and more tutor interaction.
