Year 12 and missing GCSE.

Hello everyone, as the title states I'm in year 12.

I used to live in Egypt where last year I was in year 10. I did 5 IG o level subjects (GCSE basically but international) and after them we moved to the UK. I couldn't enter year 11 due to the fact I didn't have a year 10 education of that of a student with 8 GCSE and they told me they'd put me in six form.

Apparently now, they haven't told me I'd face issues with having only 5 GCSES. And I wanted to apply for medicine.
This year along with my year 12 mocks I'm sitting GCSE physics and First language English.
That way id have my sciences: biology, chemistry and physics done with.
I sat math and French as well
Which leaves me with 6 GCSE.
I'm not sure what to do about the 3 other. Am I able to take them after year 13 since I'm legally too young for university? What subjects should I take? I'm lost and stressed and need help.

A few misconceptions here, legally universities can take students who are under eighteen. It is rare (in most unis) that they do this and there are additional steps to be part of the university when you aren't an adult. The question for me would be whether you want to do that, as it can be difficult to be part of the wider community at university when you aren't yet an adult.

Second, GCSE requirements vary per med school. Some med schools have very tight requirements on GCSEs and others have no fixed requirements at all. Look carefully at uni websites and if it doesn't say they need X or Y GCSEs, then they can't require them. Some med schools have requirements about GCSEs being taken during a single academic year - so look out for those rules as well. E.g. they won't accept the same level of qualifications that have been taken across multiple years or resits.

Do you have a qualification in English?

That's fine then, if you've got English and Maths that's the minimum lots of med schools ask for. The rest kind of needs to be your own research. as to whether they'll accept second language or not.

Just be aware that what you took in Egypt may not be considered as the equivalent to GCSEs. You need to contact each Uni you intend to apply to and check they they will accept these qualifications - attach copies of the certificates to your email.

f there is a specific reason that you have not taken the usual number of GCSEs, your school/college would need to mention this in your UCAS reference, and you might need to fill in a form for each Uni to explain this - example from Bristol Extenuating circumstances | Study at Bristol | University of Bristol

Each Uni would then take this into consideration when assessing your application and you would not be disadvantaged compared to other applicants, but they will need evidence that you have the basic skills required, typically Maths and English.
