Scots law decisions 2025

Hi, just for anyone whose wondering or still receiving Scot’s law decisions, here’s my stats, unis I applied to, and offers

Scottish student, AAAAB at higher, predicted AAAAA at 2 advh + 3 highers this year (though I kinda doubt I’ll get this), 23 Lnat, non contextual but I have extenuating circumstances so some uni’s took this into account

Strathclyde - rejection due to ‘limited number of places + high competition’
Edinburgh - rejection for the same reasons
Aberdeen - unconditional
Dundee - unconditional
Glasgow - unconditional

I thought I’d get rejected from Glasgow after my other two rejections, but I didn’t. So don’t lose hope guys 😸 and good luck to everyone

Yeah I do, mostly supercurriculars cause tbh I’m a pretty boring person my hobbies consist of pestering my boyfriend and walking my dog😭😭 but here’s my super/extracurriculars

1. First legal work experience 2022, Holmes Mackillop - firm in Glasgow city centre. Went for a week when I was in fourth year with my best friend, they were great but we didn’t learn much tbh mostly done filing. We got this through literally emailing every firm in Glasgow haha

2. Second legal work experience June 2024 - law society of Scotland virtual work experience, this was good cause I was on holiday and still was able to listen and participate

3. 3rd legal work experience July 2024 (this is the best one) I emailed every firm in Glasgow again and one of them, one of my local firms actually got back to me and offered me a paid admin job, I’ve been doing this ever since during my free periods on a Friday because it’s very close to my school. Everyone is really kind and I got to learn SO MUCH about careers in law through it, literally hope to stick with them until the end. My boss here gave me a reference

4. Burness Paul work experience. This one wasn’t like work experience work experience, it was just an open day at the firm I attended in summer (I went to their Edinburgh office) I thought it was pretty good and I learned quite a lot.

5. 5th legal work experience, Dallas McMillan (I got this one by just emailing every firm in Glasgow as well). This was quite good, I got pretty bored at times but they had a wide range of solicitors, this is where I got to figure out which areas I really like most, for example I’m now pretty interested in going into personal injury. Because I figured that out, I was able to say in my ps that’s my kind of ultimate goal which I think they would’ve been happy with. (Not the end of the world if u don’t know though)

6. I read Joseph Beltrami’s biography - I wanted to talk about him since he was a famous Glaswegian Catholic lawyer and also Glasgow alumni so I read his book

7. I read law basics books, these just helped me get used to legal jargon etc

For school roles, I have a few

MVP - mentors in violence protection, I basically tell younger pupils about domestic violence, bullying etc and how to stop it. I was able to connect this to the applications of family law in my ps

House captain - there’s 4 house groups in my school with 2 captains being picked for each house group each year, me and my bf r the captains for my house group!

Humanities captain - this was prob the one I done the most for, for humanities captains we do history/geography/modern studies related things. We set up an event on historical accountability regarding the slave trade which I talked about in my ps as well

English captain - I actually had no space to talk about this in my ps but we basically set up world book day etc

Awards

-JP John coultas public speaking award, i won this award twice consecutively. It was years ago but I still wanted to include it

-achievement in physics: I won the school award for improving the most in physics because I went from a fail to a B LOL in nat5

-attainment in geography: I won the school award for the highest grade in geography, I got 96% final exam in fifth year and I also crashed it. So I used that to explain having really good drive and stuff

-caritas award; this is an award for volunteering in the Catholic community, this actually gave me the opportunity to talk to a people regarding the churches view on crime/justice

Hobbies

-I like writing a lot of the time, I applied for joint hons English literature too so this was quite relevant

-I haven’t done it in a while but I did really enjoy drumming until I got swamped with exams

-reading

That’s literally it for hobbies I’m pretty boring, but I did have really good supercurriculars and extracurricular

Don’t worry if you don’t get a lot. My biggest advice is don’t be scared to ask, literally send a copy paste email to every firm in Glasgow saying u want unpaid work experience and if there is anything they can offer you
