New uni requested academic reference from old one

Basically, I withdrew from the first uni I attended after 1 and a half terms and am now applying for politics and sociology at new ones for later in the year. I've just recieved a reply from Liverpool who have said they need an academic reference among other things from my old uni before they will consider my application. I obviously did supply a reference on my UCAS application but this was from an A level teacher as they clearly knew me better after teaching me for two years than staff at uni who probably didn't even know my name (and I was only there like 5 months)

I would just appreciate some advice as I am panicking slightly. Obviously my lecturers wouldn't be able to provide a reference as they don't get to know you. I only met with my academic tutor once at the beginning of the year because, like I said, I was only there for 5 months. That leaves my seminar tutors, but they wouldn't be much help either as these only lasted 50 minutes once a week and our essays were submitted to them anonymously to be marked. I am panicking big time that Liverpool won't accept me because I either won't be able to provide a reference or because it will be a really terrible vague one from someone who has no clue who I am. Please help I truly have no idea what to do here

This sort of 'current Uni student' reference is really just to check that you are a) actually at that Uni, b) that you have not been asked to leave for any academic or disciplinary reason. I have accepted simple emailed 'confirming statements' from Unis in the past - just ask a tutor who you like/trust, or contact Liverpool and ask what would be the minimum they would accept.
