Maintenance Loan - Parents Income

Trying to work out which parent to use for their income and have a query as to what constitutes towards their household income as they both live separately and alone.

Parent A - Only income is a wage

Parent B - Wage, Child Maintenance, Child Tax Credits, PIP Benefit Payment

Parent A earns more if it's just based on Salary, but Parent B has more monthly income when you include all the other benefits and payments.

Hi there, we only require taxable benefits to be declared. So parent B doesn't need to include non taxable benefits. Thanks, Jason

Thank you that helps a lot.

So if the child is applying for a maintenance loan for Sept 2025, do we state the current taxable earnings (salary), or do we use the financial details from the last P60 that was issued which is from 23/24 as the 24/25 P60 hasn’t been issued yet.

Thanks

Hi there,

It's the 23/24 income we use. Thanks, Jason
