Accommodation at LJMU

Hi, I will be attending Liverpool John Moore in September, studying Fine Art, I am looking for advice on accommodation. Has anyone got any tips or advice what to look out for when applying for accommodation? Thankyou

Hi @Mills4Art

Firstly congratulations on getting a place at LJMU! 😄

Accommodation is very much down to personal preference. It depends on whether you would like a more lively accommodation with more people staying in it, or a quieter one that's more suitable for a good study environment. There are also accommodations that offer aspects of both of these environments.

A more central accommodation or one slightly further out is another thing to look out for. More central accommodations mean everything is more accessible but they might be more lively and a-bit chaotic however, accommodations further out might be more calm, but transport costs to and from uni might start to add up. Currently I am staying in an accommodation very central and personally I find it great having everything I need literally a two minute walk away. Obviously different accommodations cost different prices so weighing up what will be affordable is also a major thing to consider.

If you follow this link, https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/discover/your-student-experience/accommodation/search, you will find all the accommodation that is approved and suggested by LJMU. It includes the size, location, cost, and many other details about what you can expect to find at the accommodation!

I hope this information has helped, good luck with starting Uni! Please feel free to ask anything else that you might want to know, I am more than happy to help!

Thanks, Matt 😊

Hiya, I'm actually also applying to LJMU for forensic psychology and criminal justice so we'd both be at the Mount Pleasant campus, personally my favourite one I've looked at is Hardman House. Its one of the newer accommodations but it isn't wildly expensive, its right next to the library, you only have to share with 3 other people (depends on preference but I'd prefer a smaller group and a bit more peace and quiet) plus it's right next to a pub so you wouldn't have to worry about walking home late alone in the city.
I hope this helps but obviously it completely depends on what you'd like from the accommodation

Yes it does thankyou, I’m a ‘study and work’ person, not a ‘go out all night’ person 😅. Thankyou x
