I would probably say biochemical test, heart cycle/ something related with the heart and sampling

hi all, for long biological terms, are we allowed to write abbreviations? Say if im mentioning enzyme substrate complexes a lot in my answer can i write "...enzyme-substrate complexes (ESC).." and then just use "ESC" when referring to it again in my answer? sorry if that doesnt make much sense😅
