Genetics and neuroscience

So I’m considering neuroscience and genetics, I’m not sure which and need some opinions from people who are going to study/are studying/have studied either of them.
What do you like about the course, what careers are available and do they require post grade, who difficult is it, what uni and is it good, ect
Thanks in advance

Hi there, i am soon due to graduate with an MSc in Neuroscience. The course is certainly interesting, and my degree has had a heavy emphasis on research methods and analysis (which can be quite transferrable). The work load is fairly high, but also very doable if you just do the work when you should, like most degrees. I will say that you are unlikely to get very far if you just have a bachelors degree as the job market isnt exactly great. If you are interested in a career in research, it certain is attainable and you should definitely take advantage of any research opportunities available to you through the university as i feel like this is so important moving forward. Whilst interesting, i would definitely say any jobs outside of academia and the niche area of neuroscience can be fairly hard to come by. Heavily investing into the potential statistics and coding skills as you are doing them would be a great benefit if you are still uncertain of the exact career you would like. Most of my peers are on funded PhDs, and they are fufilled with their choices. I am personally considering trying to work in Neurophysiology through the NHS scientist training program, while some others have joined unrelated graduate programs as detectives and such (there are so many graduate programs you could consider with any degree). Best of luck either way, and whatever choice you make will be the right one, even if it sometimes doesnt feel like it.
