LORETO or XAVERIAN?

I have applied to both of these colleges and have got an offer from both of these colleges, but I don't know which college to go to. Everyone says Loreto is more academic whereas Xaverian is more relaxed, but is the campus in Loreto that bad? I'm doing chemistry, biology, physics and maths in a-level next year and I live far away so I would have to stay in Manchester for the whole day next year. Which college has better facilities for student's social life? and how do you get around the city? (as in are the bus stops close to the campus?)

Please help me decide!

Hi I'm a Loreto student In Year 13 doing Bio, Chem and Maths. I also applied to Xaverian and Loreto and had a hard time deciding. I cannot say much for Xaverian because I didn't go there. But I will say that when I went for the Taster days in June before Y12, I felt that Xaverian's environment felt more 'friendly' but I hated the campus I'll be honest. I really enjoy Loreto's campus, even after almost 2 years of being there. Be aware, the buses at 4pm are a nightmare. Trying to get home after a 9 to 4 in winter is just.... difficult. But the buses have improved a bit lately and come more frequently and drop you off right in front of the school. In the end, I chose Loreto, mostly because I knew it'd be academic, and that's what I needed to motivate me, and I knew that it'd be essentially impossible to make no friends. (Spoiler alert: I didn't make friends but that's simply because I just don't like people 😭). What I'm trying to say is, go to the Taster days and figure which one feels best for you. Both Xaverian and Loreto are good colleges, I think it's what you make of your time at college which is the most important.

Thanks for your reply! How do you think Loreto has helped you with academics? and are the tutor groups and re lessons useful or time-consuming? (sorry for bombarding you with questions 😣)

Hi again, I'm sorry for the late response. For different subjects the support will be different imo. For Chemistry, there are exam questions available on like a website called Sharepoint, it's organised into departments and each department organises their own sharepoint. The chem one is quite good and there are 3 weekly drop in sessions at lunch time. For biology, the resources they give you are not enough I'll be so real. I personally have a really great teacher so he has organised his own sharepoint really well (e.g all exam questions from 2017 per subtopicsbin separate folders as powerpoints which is really useful and has given us exam papers since 2007 etc). So I find for bio, it's a hit and miss. I'm not sure about physics and maths since I don't do those subjects. And yes, RE is useless imo, although in Y13 you get a certification? I'm not sure (it was cancelled for us this year), but it's not really that important and just something to add on to your UCAS application. Also, I think Xaverian still does RE? I thought both were Catholic schools so RE didn't matter to me when I was applying
