Changing courses and college (2025)

Heya,
I started college September 2024.I am taking A-level physics, biology and English literature.Prior to college I had not been in school for the entirety of secondary school due to illness (I taught myself the gcse content at home in yr 11).
I am not enjoying my subjects and I am just scraping past fails for all subjects (E,D,C).
In November 24’ I looked into changing to apprenticeships as I thought they would be better suited for me (got interviews for a few) but was suggested by my staff to stick with A-levels as I have ‘potential’.Unfortunately I have lost my passion for these subjects and I think a major factor of this is my lack of schooling. The jump is massive to A-levels from GCSE.I did not study over the summer break either, which most likely did not help.
Even in literature I am struggling-at GCSE I got 7/7 for lang and lit-I am slow to write and form ideas and I haven’t got an exam technique that comes easy to my peers.
For science I haven’t got a solid basis of GCSE knowledge (8 months of youtube and physics and math tutor questions got me 7/7 for combined-albiet 1 mark off an 8/7- is not the 5 years of practice my peers have).Learning the A-level content is a struggle.
I believe I over estimated my abilities and have come to terms I am not academically inclined for A-levels.
I have had a careers meeting to discuss my future options and am researching into them now.
I think something physical and outdoors would suit me best.
If anyone has been in a similar situation (changing courses, college, alevels, been out of school for a while) I would greatly appreciate any advice!
Thank you!
