How to revise all content in easter

how do I revise my gcse subjects within two weeks without having to make new flashcards or other tools

I’ve been doing topic based questions recently whilst doing the 3 colour pen method, so that way I’m learning whilst do past questions. But I feel like I’m still not doing enough. (Is 4-5hrs a day enough aswell? My chem teacher recommends I do 8 bc that’s how long an adult has to work a day 💀).

Does anyone know other revision methods (not including flashcards) I really don’t want to be wasting time making flashcards because I have speaking cards to revise for German which are literally on the first week back.

4-5 hours a day is definitely enough if you use it effectively. You do not need to study 8 hours a day every day (some days you might study lots, but it is unattainable to expect you'll do it every day).

Past papers are the best way to revise, and as you go through them, take note of the topics that you struggle with. You can then make sure to target these topics by going over your flashcards for them more often and blurting.

Blurting is when you read your notes on a topic and then write all of the information that you can remember without looking at your notes. You then write the information you forgot in another colour pen and make sure to look at that more often.

For some subjects, like English or biology, making mindmaps for each topic or theme might be useful for you.

BBC Bitesize has notes for most subjects and mini quizzes on the topics in a subject (e.g., ecosystems in biology). Going over these notes and then taking the quizzes can be helpful.

I hope this helps, and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask me. 😊

Hi there!

I did my GCSEs back in 2018 and I used something called quizlet - you can make virtual revision cards and go through them like that. I understand making resources can be time consuming but it might be worth it if revision cards work for you. I also would not measure how good your revision is through time, but rather, by quality. You can revise for 8 hours using methods that are not effective but put in 4-5 hours of work that is much more effective. That being said, you have 2 weeks so perhaps revising for 8 hours is effective but make sure you implement breaks where appropriate. Make a plan of the topics you want to revise and try to revise at least one per day. Also, look at summary videos on youtube, there are some youtubers that focus on revision and will sumarise key points from the different papers you are sitting. I would look at the exam timetable and see how many days I have for each exam and measure how many topics I need to get through per day.

Hope this helps!

If you have any more questions, then let me know!

I'm doing my GCSEs, and one thing that really helps me is going to the library.Making sure you are effectively using 4 hours would be a lot more beneficial than 8 hours not being properly focused.make sure you take proper breaks, eat well and drink water.balance is so important. The easiest way to memorise stuff is to pretend to be a teacher and write it out on a white board x

I use quizlet for German, but I tend to the app quite slow paced compared to newer apps like Gizmo. Quizlet is a pay-to-pass app, the learn tool helped me so much until I realised that it wasn’t free

It’s basically when you do a past paper, 1 colour pen to do all the questions you know with no notes or not using the internet for help. then you go through it again in a different colour pen and try answer question with notes or cgp book. Then use a 3rd colour to mark your answers

I would recommend using the specification as a checklist for each content based subject. Make sure you know all the stuff, then do practice papers & check the mark scheme very closely.
Also, I would recommend checking out notes made by 'GCSEMastery' on stuvia (a website). Search GCSEMastery on the stuvia search bar. They have notes for AQA RS, AQA Geography & Edexcel Combined science which follow the specification exactly.
Hope this helps 🙂

Good morning,

that's sad to here it's become a paid app - I used to use it when it was free and it was incredibly helpful. Hopefully newer apps are just as effective.

Have a lovely day!
