Cambridge 2025/26 Funding

A room specifically for 2025/26 Cambridge applicants to share information regarding all types of funding.

Hi All,

I have a conditional offer for a PhD in Medical Science. On 05 March 2025, Gates-Cambridge emailed me their rejection for funding, so my hope now lies with Cambridge Trust. I thought this thread is needed for all of us to keep in touch regarding our success/failure with securing funding for the 2025/26 intake.

Some interesting links that I have come across thus far:

1.

YT Video: Postgraduate funding at Cambridge - at 1:30, it says March and April and the "main offer-making period for funding", and that funding considerations run overall between March and July.

2.

Postgraduate funding statistics 2023/24 - in this document there is interesting information regarding the stats from 2023/24 funding, notably that 61.1% of PhD students were "fully Cambridge funded".

3.

Postgraduate Admissions Statistics 2023/24 - I found this this document interesting in that it gives a breakdown of application vs offer vs admission statistics.

4.

ANNUAL REVIEW JANUARY 2025 - Cambridge Trust - this is a useful document to get an idea of how Cambridge Trust allocated funds, especially with the breakdown of the different continents and countries.

Did you reach out to your department to ask if you've been nominated for the general funding competition?

I didn't have to because in the department's offer letter to me just after the interview, it stated:

"....we have ranked and submitted your application for consideration by various funding schemes in the university, including the Cambridge Trust, who will further consider your application for scholarship funding."

Although, I'm not too confident about securing funding, as it is already the 3rd week of April, and I have not heard back from any of the funding bodies.

I've heard nothing still. Have you received any updates or know anyone that has?

Except the initial comments of being accepted, and being accepted into a College. I have not heard anything since.

How was you contacted, was this via email or over the portal?

Do anyone know about of funding-securing possibility of MPhil offer holders (mine is MPhil in Linguistics and Language Sciences (taught), specifically) on a college level? I was emailed by Emmanuel College Postgraduate Office stating that "College funding is aimed in the first instance at supporting early career researchers (MPhil, PhD, etc.) and so in practice applicants for courses such as MBA, EMBA, MSt and PGCE are rarely successful". Therefore, I am really insecure as to my chances of getting funding, given that college fundings are super competitive for Master's students.

Have any home PhDs received funding from Cambridge Trust?

Hi I saw on my college website (Pembroke) they offer two fully funded MPhil scholarships and a certain amount of PhDs in specific subjects, I recommend most people check their college's scholarships section as it seems they could be very transparent in what scholarships are offered and how many of each there are. Also by this point (unless PhDs have not received many offers yet?) that college funding is the more likely to receive? But departments may take longer. My department was very small so I knew not to expect funding from them, but the college is larger so this might help some people figure out if they could get funding -- its all a game of chance, though.
