Good morning @immoody2426 🤗

How are you?

Have you been to an open day at both uni's? If not, I'd definitely recommend booking onto an upcoming one so you can get a feel for both campuses, speak to the academics who'd be teaching you, ask current students any burning questions you might have, find out about career opportunities and see where graduates have gone on to work, explore campus/accommodation and the city through tours, check out the support services etc. You could also check out virtual tours on the uni websites and explore the campus and facilities that way as well if you can't attend an open day.

I'd also recommend looking on the uni's social media and website for any campus tour videos, MPharm student blogs and takeover videos, seeing the student life, just for another insight into the course and uni.

When comparing the course at both uni's, you could take a look at the course modules and see what sounds more interesting to you, placement opportunities, how the course is taught and what assessments are like. You can do this by looking at the course pages, attending open days, or checking out MPharm student profiles/blogs and takeovers.

If you would like to look at student content specifically from our Bradford MPharm students do just let me know and I'll send you some over 🙂 Or, if you have any specific questions about the course/uni let me know and I'll do my best to help!

Best of luck in making your decision! I'm sure you'll make the right choice for you

Have a great rest of the week!

Hi @immoody2426

Great to hear you're thinking about studying MPharm at LJMU!

To find out more about the course, you can head over to our LJMU On Demand page, where you can watch a presentation by the course tutors and explore the modules you'll be studying: https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/on-demand/login (just type "Pharmacy" into the Course tab).

As for student life, Liverpool is a fantastic city to study in! It’s vibrant, welcoming, and really easy to get around. There’s so much packed into a walkable space—Albert Docks, Chinatown, an amazing music scene, nightlife, shopping (both high street and independent), and open green spaces like Sefton Park. Liverpool is also well connected by train and bus to the coast or nearby cities like Manchester.

Hope that helps! Feel free to drop me a message if you have any more questions 🙂

Hi! yes that would be so helpful looking at the student content. Also, would you say it's commuter friendly?

Morning @immoody2426 🤗

Sure! Here's some pharmacy student content you can check out:
Horhorli shares her experience studying MPharm here
Aisha's video on studying Pharmacy
Hana's video on studying Pharmacy
Faith's video on studying Pharmacy
Seif's student profile
Pharmacy academic shares reasons to study Pharmacy
Day in the life of a Pharmacy student

It's definitely commuter friendly! There are lots of ways to get to the campus, there's two railway stations and a bus station a short walk away. Campus is about a fifteen minute walk/7 minute cycle away from the city centre too. If you'd like some more information on getting to Bradford, travel discounts for students, and even some ideas of things to do on your commute to keep you entertained you check out our helpful commuting page here. Some of our students have also shared their commuting stories in this blog post.

A lot of our students live at home and commute to uni, I know when I was a student I decided to stay at home and just get public transport as it wasn't very far. I found I was still able to get involved in the student life if I wanted to. You can get involved in clubs and societies that fit around your schedule, make the effort to see friends after class whether that's grabbing a coffee or heading to the library for a study group session before the commute home, still take part in activities held by the students' union etc. I've shared some pro's and con's of living at home here and the ways you can still make the most of university when living at home here.

I hope you find this useful, but please do let me know if you have any further questions and I'll do my best to help! 🙂

Does this course follow a one week on and then one week off structure or not? I've heard about it but I can't find any official information about it 🤔

Hi @immoody2426

Happy to help! In terms of student content, the main channel the School of Pharmacy uses is @ljmupharmacy on Twitter, and if you search ‘LJMU Pharmacy’ on YouTube, you’ll find some student videos. Alternatively, you could contact the school directly to ask if they can connect you with a current student I checked Unibuddy but it looks like there isn’t a pharmacy rep on there at the moment. Here's the contact link: https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/about-us/faculties/faculty-of-science/school-of-pharmacy-and-biomolecular-sciences/get-in-touch

As for commuting, LJMU is in the city centre and well connected by public transport about a 15–20 minute walk from Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool Central stations, and close to several bus routes. There isn’t on-campus parking, but for the MPharm course on City Campus, nearby options include the NCP car parks at Pall Mall and Moorfields, or the Mount Pleasant multi-storey.

Regarding the timetable, this year it hasn’t followed a one week on, one week off pattern. For Level 4 students, the structure was roughly four days a week on campus (with Wednesdays off), including lectures, workshops, and practicals. Timetables for September 2025 haven’t been released yet, so I’d recommend contacting applicant support directly for the most accurate info: [email protected] or call 0151 231 2777.

Hope that helps! 🙂

Hi!

I’m currently studying Pharmacy at LJMU and would definitely recommend it if you’re thinking about applying.

One of the things that really stands out is how well structured and integrated the course is. In first year, you’ll build a strong foundation through core modules like:
•Cells and macromolecules
•Fundamental body systems (anatomy and physiology)
•Linking structures to properties
•Making drugs into medicines
•Gastrointestinal system
•Blood and nutrition
•Over-the-counter medicines
•Pharmacy profession and key skills

You’ll also have coursework-based modules like Research Skills, Formulary Assessments and Person-Centred Care. These are introduced gradually and you’ll get plenty of guidance and support along the way.

You’ll develop key skills through regular work on pharmacy law, numeracy and your professional portfolio. These prepare you really well for the GPhC registration exam.

The teaching staff are friendly and supportive. They’re approachable, explain things clearly and always make time for questions. You’ll also have support from your personal tutor, module leads and year leader. We also have regular consolidation workshops and revision sessions to help prepare for assessments.

What’s great is that you don’t just sit in lectures all day. From first year, you get clinical exposure through placements, in-person and virtual simulations and clinical workshops. These really help build your confidence and practical experience.

Outside of the course, there’s a lot going on. LJMU has an active Students’ Union (JMSU) with lots of societies to join. There are also global opportunities, including the chance to study abroad for a year at the Malaysia pharmacy campus. It’s a fantastic experience if you’re interested.

You’ll also have access to three main libraries:
•Aldham Robarts Library (close to Mount Pleasant Campus)
•Avril Robarts Library (close to City Campus)
•Student Life Building, which is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Overall, I’ve felt really well supported at LJMU both academically and personally. The course prepares you well for your future as a pharmacist and Liverpool is a brilliant student city. It’s affordable, friendly and full of life.

Please feel free to ask any questions about the course or student life, I’d be happy to help.
