Parents treat me like I’m stupid

Maybe tell your mum rather than a bunch of strangers?

I’m 26 and I’m still treated as if I’m 12. My mum speaks to me with baby talk and dumbs down conversations assuming I don’t have knowledge on a lot of stuff. She speaks to my older sister, who in a lot of ways is mentally younger and less responsible than I am, in an appropriate manner to her age but I get the kid treatment. However much I try to prove I’m not mentally stunted nothing actually changes, I’ve already expressed that I’m not happy with how I’m spoken to. I know parents will always see their child as a child, but I’m sick of being made to feel like an idiot and I’m sick of being patronised and infantilised. It wouldn’t make much of an impact on me in any other circumstance but I struggle with self esteem and confidence and this doesn’t help at all.
