Msci Chemistry at Loughborough Uni or Uni of Nottingham?

I've been to both open days and offer holder days, but I'm still torn between the two. In my opinion, I think the Loughborough course is more interesting but I've also heard that Nottingham has a better education system? Nottingham is also cheaper to live there than Loughborough, so I have to consider that since I can only get the minimum amount for student finance. I also have family at Nottingham and most of my friends are going there, but Loughborough is where I think I'll be more independent (only one of my friends will be going there). Loughborough also has a big STEMlab building where students can get an area each (including equipment) to themselves, whilst at Nottingham we would like have to share one between two (they even said it could be between three depending on how students they accept) which is slightly off putting.

I know I need to make a decision and firm my choices soon but I just really want other people's opinions on this???

Hi @student9902

It's completely normal to feel torn, especially when both universities have their own strengths. Consider where you will be happiest on a day-to-day basis. Would you prefer having more independence and hands-on experience, like at Loughborough, or would you rather be closer to friends and family while saving on living costs, like at Nottingham? Also think about aspects such as course content, teaching style, access to facilities, and whether the environment will support your growth both academically and personally. Reflect on how you study best—do you prefer working in your own space, or are you comfortable sharing? Don’t forget to consider the social aspects—can you envision yourself enjoying student life there?
Remember, there’s no wrong choice, just the one that feels right for you in the long run.

You have until 5 June to make your decision so take your time.

The course is the most important consideration as that is what you'll be studying for four years. If you prefer Loughborough's course then that seems the logical choice unless finances are a big issue. Do either of your options offer a placement year as this adds a lot to your graduate CV?

I've applied to the course with an a placement year for both courses, since I also took adding it to my CV into consideration!

Loughborough course is more interesting
Fantastic smaller specialist STEM Uni, you'll get more personal tutor attention, and the sports facilizes are amazing. Grab the offer with both hands.
