can't decide between sheffield or manchester for ba architecture

Honestly i hadn't really thought abt it while applying and now i need to pick but can't really decide.I like both but sheffield does seem a bit more artsy which i like but i would hate living in a small city. Msa is good but i've seen a few posts saying it's a scam and everything and that the city is a bit pricey, does anyone have any insight or opinions abt the courses, accommodation and social life at either

All opinions are welcome thanks
Have you managed to go to offer-holder/applicant days for both unis? They can help a lot with decision making.

Also consider what links do the departments have to local (or national) architecture practices? It's very competitive to get a part 1 job so any contacts you can build during your degree will help. What are the staff specialisms? Are there trips/study abroad? Do you get a dedicated work space in the department or do you have to transport your work in every day? Then look at the cost and availability of accommodation in the cities. Manchester has a shortage of student accommodation and in recent years some students have had to live in Huddersfield and Liverpool.

@University of Sheffield Students can you give your experience of living in Sheffield?

Hi!
I have been a Sheffield student for 4 years, and I have never struggled to find different social things to do. These can be varied from cafes/restaurants to going hiking in the Peak District with friends 🙂. The Student's union also has 300+ societies and sports clubs which are a great way to meet friends with similar interests to you! What I like about Sheffield is it's a very walkable city, which I find really helpful! Overall, I love living in Sheffield and really enjoy the friendly feel of the city and the large amount of green spaces available. I would be happy to answer any other questions you may have regarding the university or the city itself .

Depending on where you are from, obvs Manc is a massive city so has everything but Sheffield is really walkable, cheap, friendly, safe but with a good social/music scene. Loads of cafes, new places to eat, parks, galleries and music. In comparison to Manchester it has more trees and parks and is easier to find good accommodation. The Uni halls are fantastic. Endcliffe is best uni accommodation I have seen anywhere. The Students Union is regularly voted number 1 and they are very active, loads of clubs, bands and events every week in the building including Inhaler, Sam Fender, Blossoms etc plus have O2 venue.
