Law competition

Hi, I am partaking in a law competition involving advocacy, negotiations and mooting. I haven’t been apart of a competition like this before and was wondering if anyone had any tips?
Thanks

Watch videos of Supreme Court hearings. Look in particular for videos featuring David Pannick KC, Dinah Rose KC, and Sir James Eadie KC.

Hey there!

Well done for getting involved this kind of competition is a great way to boost your legal skills and confidence, especially early on.

For advocacy and mooting, focus on knowing your case and arguments really well. Structure is key signpost your points clearly, back everything up with case law or legal principles, and practise your delivery out loud to stay calm under pressure. Think about how you'd respond to questions or interruptions from a judge.

For negotiations, it’s about teamwork, strategy, and flexibility. Go in with clear goals and fallback positions, but be ready to adapt. Listen actively to the other side, stay professional, and work towards a balanced outcome it's not about ‘winning’, but getting the best result for your client.

Overall, preparation and clear communication will take you far. Don’t worry about being perfect just show confidence, logic, and professionalism. You've got this enjoy the experience and learn as much as you can!
