Physics question

Hi, please could I have some help on question Ii on page 15? If qV equals 1/2mv^2, why isn’t V just 75V, isn’t that the potential difference between the two plates?
Paper: https://pmt.physicsandmathstutor.com/download/Physics/A-level/Past-Papers/CAIE/Paper-4/QP/November%202018%20(v1)%20QP.pdf
Thanks!

The p.d. between plate A and plate B is 75 V when they are 1.2 cm apart but for (b)(ii) the p.d. is across a distance of 0.40 cm NOT 1.2 cm.
