Are we allowed to answer a differen question in our GCSE english literature paper

Are we allowed to answer a question in our GCSE english literature paper despite the text not being the one our school teaches?
For example, my current school teaches Romeo and Juliet, whereas in my old school I've done Macbeth, I was wondering if I could answer Macbeth instead?

Yes - that's fine. Obviously you'd only so this if you thought you could answer the Macbeth question better than the Romeo and Juliet question, and that might depend on the specific question which they ask.

You are permitted to do so but I would advise that you speak to teachers at your current school to let them know that you're considering doing this; they may be able to provide some further resources.
