"University of Nottingham plans to cut 250 jobs"

University of Nottingham plans to cut more than 250 jobs - BBC News

The University is 'considering' reducing the number of professional service roles by 258 - from a total workforce of about 5,000 - which covers a wide range of non-academic positions. That will include front-line roles and so it will have an immediate impact on your student experience.

This is really interesting. Do we have an idea of what non academic positions are at risk?

No detailed info so far - culling 'professional service roles' by 258, as well as not filling 100+ vacant posts. This is on top of last year's 300 voluntary redundancies. Unions are predicting this to rise to 500+ jobs cut before September. Slash and burn on a grand scale,

The Uni is claiming this is because "staff numbers have risen faster than student numbers!" - whatever that is supposed to mean. And btw, in 2021/2 Nottingham spent £36m expanding to a new city centre campus based at former HMRC offices. Clearly a stupid idea if it means you then can't afford to pay your own staff.
