What are your Easter Break Plans?

Hi all,

With the Easter Break coming up for a lot of students, I thought it would be a good idea to share what we have coming up!

I know it can be easy to lose a routine whilst you are on break, especially if you have went back home for the holidays, so it will also be a good idea to share any motivation tips you may have so when you make it back to uni, you won't be stuck in a rut.

One of my top tips would be:

Create a loose schedule for the break. This will be useful if you have any exams or final deadlines coming up, so you can split up your social time and your academics!

Looking forward to hearing any plans or thoughts!

Hi there,

Great to hear from you!

Do you have some exams coming up when you return after Easter? 🙂

My top tip for Easter would be...

Set small study goals. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to revise or study for hours on end each day. Rather, set yourself small, manageable study goals (such as going over 1-2 topics for one or two modules each day), making sure that you take time to rest and relax as well.

I hope this helps and have a nice break, whether you do or do not celebrate Easter!

Hi!

I thought I could also share my Easter break plans as I am quite busy!

Firstly, I will be doing lots of uni work! I have assignments after Easter so I will be doing lots of work to make sure I keep on top of it all and it all gets done. It might be a bit boring but it needs to get done!

I am also going on a little weekend away which will be nice. It will be good to get my mind off uni work for a little bit so I am quite glad that I have this planned.

I also want to spend time with my family and friends from home. I have been at uni for quite a while this term so I am looking forward to spending some nice time with my family at home! I also have a few plans with my friends which will be nice too.

I like to also have little things planned to help me get through my uni work. I like to make nice things for lunch, go on walks and runs and just get my mind off work for a little bit so I am more productive in the times that I am doing my work.

I think I am also going to go to the gym a few times - I have a gym membership where you can go to multiple branches so I think I will go to the one at home a few times!

I hope everyone has a lovely break.

Hi Estelle

What a fabulous thread!

I am a final-year Theatre and Performance Practice student, so I will. be returning for my final semester after Easter - eek!

Therefore, I am staying at my accommodation near the university for a little longer this holiday, but still making sure I have a break. My top tips are...

💚 Have a proper break: Make sure you take time off to rest, recuperate, and have quality time catching up with friends and family and for self-care. A proper break means you return to your studies refreshed and more productive!

💚 Study: Definitely have study free days, but when you are ready to warm up for the next term I would set yourself a couple of small goals a day, for example planning a revision timetable, or reading a chapter of a book and making notes, so you are prepared for the next term ahead.

💚 Work: If you need or wish to earn extra money, I always find it is easier to do this during the holidays than during term time because you usually have more free time. Don't exhaust yourself, but it is always nice to work a few days to bump up the bank account balance so you have a financial cushion for the term ahead and can focus on your studies.

💚 Do something new: It is easy to do the same thing every holiday and never get around to something you really wanted to. As a consequence, I would recommend trying to get one thing done that has been on your 'To-Do List' for ages and you never have time to do during term-time (in my case, this is sorting out my yard at my accommodation). And one fun thing you really want to do but have not had a chance to do yet.
E.g., if you live away from home in term-time now is the perfect time to go visit that gallery you have always wanted to or a great time to go and stay with a friend who is at university in another city.

Enjoy your Easter break, everyone 🐣

Hi there,

What a great idea!

I'm in my final year, so my break will be spent completing my last assignments, working, and enjoying my last few weeks in Chester!

Staying on-top of work and revision is key during the break, but my top tip would be to make sure you relax! This can be a stressful time for many, so making sure you take some time out to catch up on sleep, do something you love, spend time with family and friends, and eat well are essential.

Have a wonderful Easter break! 🙂

Hiya!

I'm in my final year too, so I'll be spending my break working on my dissertation! It's due in June, so I'm aiming to stay on top of it while still making the most of the time off. I’ll also be doing some work, applying for graduate-level jobs, and spending time with friends and family.

A few of my friends from other universities have come home for Easter, so I’ve made plans to see them, and one of my friends is visiting for a week after living in Spain for a year!

Hope everyone has a lovely Easter! 🐰

Hi all 🐣🌷

Like many other students at this time, I am well into deadline season 🧠 although fortunately there is plenty of chocolate and sunny days around this time to keep me going 🌞

Great to see so many people mention rest and recuperation as part of their Easter breaks - I try to be particularly mindful of burnout around these times of year as the multiple deadlines at once can feel overwhelming. Here are my favourite ways to gently manage this:

An admin day at the start of the break to go through emails, lay out my deadline dates and roughly what work these involve (plans, reading, creating revision notes), and check all my calendars are filled in so I know I won't forgetting anything 🗓️

'Working hours' for studying, so I can switch off for the day and do fun things or just relax 🧠

I habitually tend to try force too much into one day, which can overwhelm my mind and prevent me getting anything done, so I now find 'booking' different days for myself to do different assignments or chunking a couple days together for one thing works best - however, find what works for you 😊 I know some people work better with more rigid schedules, but for me this adds to my stress if I feel like I can't stick to it...

...leading on to my next point...try not to compare yourself to others. Your working style will be individual to you and just because one person has already finished their essay or has made X amount of progress with their revision, it doesn't necessarily mean you are behind, stay focused on you 💞

I'll also be taking time for myself to have good food, hang out with my dog, plan some set days off for myself to see friends and family and enjoy the Easter break guilt-free ☺️

Have a lovely Easter break everyone 💝
