yes, it's good! Definitely a Russel group worthy combination. You can consider an AS in further maths to strengthen your application.

Hi there,

Lovely to hear you're planning on going into Econ or Finance. Yes, your combination sounds great - this would set you up very well to apply for these courses, particularly the maths.

A few suggestions for courses you may like from us...

Accounting and Finance
Economics
Accounting and Management
Economics with Politics

... all of these include placement years.

Take a look into some other unis too to try to find a course you particularly like the look of! Econ and Finance degrees will vary subtly between unis and so be sure to look into the module contents 🙂

I hope this helps, best of luck this year!

You'll need to check - some unis don't like BS and Econ taken together - my school won't allow people to do both because of this.

Some unis also like FMaths.

Hello there!

Yes, your subject choices are actually very relevant for studying Economics with Finance at university!
Most universities highly value A-Level Maths for Economics-related degrees, and combining it with Economics and Business shows a strong academic foundation in both quantitative and business-focused areas.

You can take a look at the Economics courses at Coventry University. You will find their criteria for the courses as well.

BSc Economics - https://www.coventry.ac.uk/course-structure/ug/fbl/economics-bsc-hons/
BSc Business Economics - https://www.coventry.ac.uk/course-structure/ug/fbl/business-economics-bsc-hons/

You are definitely on the right track. Just make sure you aim for strong grades, especially in Maths, and start researching entry requirements for your target course.

You’ve got this!

I hope this helps!

Kind regards,

Hi there,

if anything, your subjects are perfect for economics! At Kingston, we offer an economics Bsc: https://www.kingston.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/economics-bsc-hons

We also offer accounting and finance, which is an accredited course by he prestigious international accreditation by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). This accreditation has been earned by just 6% of the world's business schools and recognises the high quality and standard of our business degrees.

Our graduates have gone on to work at the big four, such as Deloitte and KPMG.

Happy to answer any more questions!

The combination of economics and business studies may limit some options (e.g. you would be less competitive for LSE) due to the overlap between those subjects.

Without FM you probably aren't competitive for LSE economics anyway, and Cambridge/UCL/Warwick might be a stretch (even without considering the economics/business studies combination).

Beyond that I suspect most other options will be plausible though.
