Current City St George's Student- Things I wish I had Known before starting Uni

Starting university is an exciting and also nerve-wracking experience. Looking back on my first year as a current City St George's student, there are a few things I wish I had known before I started. Hopefully, sharing these will help some of you feel more prepared for this exciting new chapter!! 🥳

- You don't need to have everything figured out from day one- It's okay if you’re still unsure about your study routine, making friends or future career plans. University is all about learning and developing at your own pace. Plus, at City St George's University, there’s plenty of support available- whether it’s career advice, mental health services, academic support, or just someone to talk to if you need help settling in .

- Induction week isn’t the only time to make friends- A lot of people worry about making friends immediately, but you’ll meet people throughout your course, societies, and group projects 👥.

- Budgeting is important- It's easy to overspend in the first few weeks, but small habits like meal prepping and tracking expenses can make a big difference. If you’re able to open a savings account, I’d recommend doing so 💵.

- Placements and internships are worth considering early- Even in the first year, looking into placement opportunities can give you a head start in gaining real-world experience.

What about you? If you’re about to start university, what are your biggest questions or concerns? And if you’re already at uni, what's something you wish you had known before starting? :h:
