Maintenance loan

If I withdraw my course in the final year in April between the 10th and 15th would I still receive the maintenance loan which I get on the 22nd?

Hi there,

Normally, when you withdraw your university will let us know and that means we'll stop any future payments.

So, that should mean you won't get this payment, unfortunately. Have you decided for sure that you're withdrawing from your course?

Thanks, Graeme

So there isn’t like a set date which would mean even if I withdrew I could still get that payment based on the fact I would’ve passed that date and been still enrolled on the course for the majority of April?

If, for instance, your university tell us about your withdrawal after the payment is due you'll still get it.

We'll only block the payments if your university tells us to (ie before the payment is due).

Just to make you aware, if you get this payment and then withdraw fairly soon after that it's possible that you'll have been overpaid some of that instalment: we'll ask you to repay any overpayment as soon as you're able to.

Thanks, Graeme

Okay that’s fine, I just thought seen as though im still on the course now and we’re approaching the middle of April, I would qualify for that payment regardless and I’ve even received the email to tell me the payment is on the way too.

Also, if I were to be required to repay that installment, would it have to be done as the full amount?

You don't need to repay anything unless we tell you too, rest assured.

So, if the university sends the Change of Circumstances to tell us you've withdrawn we'll then re-assess your entitlement.

If that leads to any overpayment we'll let you know this in writing.

Thanks, Graeme
