I've been given an offer, what happens now?
Hi everyone!
First off — massive congratulations if you’ve got an offer from Edge Hill University! 🥳 You might be wondering what happens next, and honestly, one of the best things you can do is attend an Offer Holder Day.
I went to one myself, and it genuinely helped me decide that Edge Hill was the place for me — so I thought I’d share what you can expect from the day in case you’re thinking about going.
🗓What is an Offer Holder Day?
Unlike open days, offer holder days are more personalised. When you arrive, you’ll get a lanyard with a little schedule just for you — it’ll tell you which subject talk you’ll be going to and what’s happening around campus that day.
🏡 Campus & Accommodation Tours
In the morning, you can go on a campus tour with a current student — it’s chilled and a great way to see where everything is and what the campus is like. There’s also self-guided accommodation tours, where you can check out different types of student rooms. You just head to a marquee for the one you want to see, and student guides will take you inside for a look around. You can look round some of the bedrooms and bathrooms as well as the communal space and ask any questions you have to the current students.
If you haven’t sorted your accommodation yet, the team will be there to help you with that too.
🎪 The Hub & Student Experience Fair
All day in The Hub (in the centre of campus), there’s a Student Experience Fair. There are loads of stalls covering everything from:
There are staff and students at each stall ready to answer any questions — honestly, no question is too small.
And there's free food and drinks too, so you can grab a coffee or lunch and find somewhere to sit before your talk!
📚 Subject Talks (aka a sneak peek at your course)
In the afternoon, you’ll head off to your subject talk. This is basically a mini lecture with someone from your course — super helpful if you want to get a feel for the teaching style and what you’ll actually be studying. And you get to meet other offer holders too (potentially your future coursemates).
After the talk, you can chat with lecturers and staff in the department and ask anything that’s on your mind — about the course, uni life, or even the lecture you just had.
While that’s going on, there’s also a Parents and Supporters Chat for anyone you bring with you. They get to hear how they can support you and what your time at uni might look like
👋 Before You Leave...
You can head back to The Hub if you’ve got any last questions or just want to check out anything you missed earlier. It’s all super relaxed — take everything at your own pace. You will also have picked up a tote bag and information guides at the start of the day which you can take home to read through if you need any additional information or just a reminder of the day.
My Experience
When I went to my offer holder day, it honestly confirmed everything I was hoping for. I met people on my course, asked those final burning questions, and got a real understanding for what being a student at Edge Hill is actually like.
