Am I finished?

I'm sure by now many people who are doing GCSE's have asked the same thing but I would also like to know. So far I am achieving mainly 5's except the subjects I'm taking for sixth form but I havent revised yet and im starting to get a bit worried looking at how much content there is and how im quite shaky in those subjects. Have you any tips which will help me learn content in time. The main subjects im weak in are maths and all the sciences.

Hi. TBH i didn’t start my revision until a week or 2 before the exams themselves but luckily i was doing quite well throughout the years. However, for me what worked best was the CGP books and Quizlet for GCSEs. But i think it was due to me having a good memory . But i basically just read the cgp book before my exam. So if had Bio paper 1, then i just read all the paper 1 topics and then did a Quizlet for a bit to check if i know it. I found just reading the book out loud whilst walking around my room worked best. And instead of learning all the content i split it by paper so only learnt paper 1 before paper 1. BUT I’M SURE OTHERS WILL AGREE THIS ISN’T A GOOD WAY, but it worked for me as last minute as I didn’t have much time.

For maths though. Just practice paper over and over again until you get it right because the questions are all similar in nature. So just keep doing papers. IF you don’t understand a topic use a YouTube video, I found cognito useful. But mainly practice past papers over and over.

Doing this i managed to get all 9s in the subjects. But it was a lot of stress and had to pull one or 2 late nights before an exam.

ur only cooked if u decide to give up.

for now focus only on the topics u are the worst at and the topics which tend to be very high yield (lots of marks) in exams. accept that u might not be able to cover everything u need to and prioritise.

document every mistake u make with the correct answer, then review those mistakes and corrections a few times.

skim/do some past papers now even if u havent revised all the topics, so u can get a better feel for exam structure and what u would struggle with in the real thing. testing urself frequently is the best way to remember info in the long-term.

use freesciencelessons, bbc bitesize, cognito and physics and maths tutor.

dont waste time making notes/flashcards. if u do make notes type them to make it faster and focus only on key words/bulletpoints that show up in markschemes. if u like flashcards just use someone else's deck.

for maths just practice as much as physically possible. watch yt videos when u dont understand something.

if u need something like a revision timetable ask chat gpt to generate one for u. if u cant understand something u can also ask chat gpt to explain it to u super simply. use perplexity ai instead if u want to make sure the information is correct/check the sources. if u can its probably better to just ask ur teachers irl tho. even if u think its a stupid question.

if it feels difficult it means its working.

u can still clutch top grades if u don't pre-emptively give up and decide there's nothing u can do. just make sure u dont burn out half way thru exams.

Hi @Epicallyaws,

You're definitely not alone in feeling this way. Loads of people don’t start proper revision until around now, so try not to panic. The fact that you’re aware and ready to do something about it already puts you ahead of the game.

Since your weakest subjects are maths and the sciences, and those are pretty content-heavy, I'd say focus on building a solid routine rather than trying to cram everything all at once. You’ve still got time it’s just about using it well from here on.

For maths: practice is everything. Go through questions by topic , then once you feel more confident, move on to mixed papers. If you get a question wrong, make a note of why, was it a silly mistake, or did you not understand the method?

For sciences: active recall is your best friend. Don’t just read the textbook make flashcards, quiz yourself, and do practice questions (Seneca and Physics & Maths Tutor are both really useful). Focus first on the topics you’re most shaky on, and build up from there.

Also, try not to feel like you have to study everything all in one day. Pick 2–3 subjects a day and rotate them. Even just 1–2 hours a day of proper focused revision can make a huge difference if you’re consistent.

Rooting for you!
