Maximum Maintenance loan 2025/2026

Hullo, I’m currently. applying for the final year of my degree. As I have the last three years due to zero parental support, I’m requesting the full amount, which should, I believe, be £10,544 - as per gov uk’s calculator. However I’ve only been offered (during the application process at least) 5403, which with the base totals £9972, which sounds more similar to this year’s going rate.

Will this be adjusted later? Or is there a lower rate for finalists since the summer payment is supposed to include summer residency, which I won’t need?

It’s not a massive discrepancy but just curious so I can be planning the budget. Thanks!

Final year funding is lower because it doesn’t include any funds to cover the summer holidays - you’d be eligible for universal credit etc as soon as you finish the degree.

Hi there,

If you've not yet submitted your application we'd definitely recommend doing so: that way well tell you exactly what you're entitled to.

Also, like PQ said it's normal to receive less in the final year because we only pay you up until you graduate. In this case it may be worth speaking to your university's Finance team to see if they're able to offer any help or advice.

Thanks, Graeme

As I thought then, thanks for confirming!

Hi tinos21,

Yes, that sounds correct as the final year entitlement is always less than previous years.

Thanks, Clare
