Student Finance when you will be leaving job to study

Hi all

I am looking into my options for being able to study as a mature student. I obviously have financial commitments and bills. When I apply for a maintenance loan I know I must include my partners income as it is household income but I would be leaving my full time job to study and so my income at the time of application would not reflect my true income during my study years.

When I apply for my loan do I have to include my own taxable income as a part of this? as it would then mean I am entitled to much less maintenance loan, but I would need to extra money as I would not be able to work full time during my course. I am looking to do something such as nursing/midwifery/paramedic science.

thanks in advance for the advice and info

Hi CrazyCate,

We do not take your earned income into account when assessing the Maintenance Loan, it will be based on your partners income only.

Thanks, Clare
