Why am i doing this to myself. (A levels)

Its like 3 ish weeks till a levels and I am really just screwing myself by not even doing sufficient revision, most people i know get atleast 5 hours in and I cant even do a singular hour. Like during my GCSEs time I hd more motivation and discipline than now and got more in than I was. I know its quality over quantity but i'm flopping both now.

Just try do some past questions. Even like 1 hour a day would contribute. ❤️ Maybe add a little active recall - as you’ll feel an improvement quicker and this might motivate you.

True, but I do feel like I don't know anything when I sit and that makes me not want to do more

That’s understandable. Sometimes I’ll do the questions and the mark scheme immediately after this one. That can help with the demotivation. Or if you think you don’t know it, go revise that bit a little and answer the question and get it right. You can trick your brain to enjoy that satisfaction.

You should get gizmo and put your notes in there and you can just randomly practice on your phone or just use Seneca and go over the topics you’re interested in. Or look at past papers or exemplars but I’d advise you to just try to go over the content you’re struggling with and then when you get comfortable with that you could try to force yourself to revise

Important not to compare your revision to other people, although I do understand this.

GCSE revision usually feels somewhat refreshing in the diversity of subjects, allowing you a break from burning out on a particular one- a luxury you don’t get with A- Levels of course, which is a natural cause for a drop in motivation( 3 subjects, more detail is harder to revise for than 10 with less detail), so don’t think you’ve fallen off the wagon, as everyone feels this at some point during them.

I know it can feel overwhelming, but a key is to simplify your revision back down to the two parts that matter:

1.

Content revision

2.

Exam technique( if essay based).

Use any resources that make content revision simple and easy( YT works for those less motivated, as it’s less passive).

Then practice using past papers like you’ll get on the day- with little time left, forget anything that won’t directly help you when you sit down on the day- I personally felt more stressed when I had more time to go, as there was too much I thought I needed to do, but when there’s only a few weeks, you’re forced to cut out what isn’t necessary- and this works,

Best of luck with your revision and exams, I hope this helps.
