Did you go to Open Days at these Unis - or are you going to Offer Holder visit days?

I recommend you ask for a copy of this year's timetable (for all years of the course) to get an idea of when placements are held. Some unis use a lot of the standard uni hols for placements, others don't. Also consider placement locations and ease of travel.

Liverpool's accommodation is plentiful and relatively cheap, especially if you consider some of the private halls too.

Hey there,
My name is Siobhan and I'm a third-year student at UCLan. First of all, congrats on your offers! Such an exciting time and I can understand how hard it will be making a decision. Here are some things that I found about the two unis that you might want to consider:

Accommodation - There may be a difference between prices with the two uni’s you are choosing as Liverpool is a bigger city and typically has a higher cost of living. However, there will be many students' friendly places there with discounts so don’t worry too much (I’m from around Liverpool so can guarantee that’s true) I would look online though to contrast and compare

Environment On top of that, when looking at where to live you should consider whether you would like to live in a very busy place like Liverpool or a more close-knit community like Leicester.

Course structure Have a good look at the modules that each uni will offer and how they deliver their teaching. It might be best to go to an open day or offer holder day to speak to the lecturers in person about this and the expectations. Liverpool is a Russel group uni and so is quite research led, whilst Leicester is known for its postgraduate studies and academic support.

Nightlife So I have been to Liverpool for a night out and I must admit it is very busy and there are a lot of places to go to. I am not too sure about Leicester, but I would try and reach out to people in student rooms or even on the uni Facebook groups, if they have one, and ask there.

Some other things I would consider is:

Wellbeing support

Cohort size

Accessibility to shops and activities

Career services

Diversity

Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions 😊
