kingston or uca (canterbury)?

hello!!
i've been feeling a bit overwhelmed and pressured about this whole university process and i'm now stuck on choosing where to go.
i really love uca and the area despite the campus to be small it's comforting in a way which i like. i honestly would choose it over kingston however my family definitely prefers kingston. i know choosing university is something i should decide but the fact that my family will be helping me a lot will make me feel guilty if i don't choose what they want me to choose. i also feel like kingston is a bit pressuring in a way?? i like kingston and if i end up going i think i'll be okay but i feel like i'm going to regret not going to uca. my parents reacted really happy when i said i wouldn't choose uca but i said that to convince myself.

this is more of a rant than actually asking for help since i might just end up going to kingston 😖 university is a big step for not only me but my family. i don't want to be a disappointment for them!

I think you should go where you will be happiest. Have another chat with your family and present a pros and cons list to them.
Why do they prefer Kingston? Is it because of its arts ranking?

They are not going to Uni - you are.

Hi there!

Firstly, university is for your. They are not going to university - you are. Choose what benefits you! You do not want to end up studying on a course you are not passionate about - you will not feel motivated and this will reflect in your grades.

Secondly, I did my undergraduate (Medical Biology) and I am currently doing my postgraduate (Pharmaceutical Science) at Kingston University. I really like the campus as I am based in Penrhyn, and I like the closeness of the library to the main campus. I also enjoy the facilities - really high tech labs, good quality teaching and of course a 15% discount if you choose to pursue a masters degree. Teaching staff are contactable and the staff will ask for feedback on their modules, which feels empowering for students that they have a voice and are heard. There are good foodspots and also lots of different careers events and guest lectures, which can enhance your career and provide networking opportunities.

If you have any specific questions, I am more than happy to answer!

Kind regards, Jenifer (Kingston rep)
