Assignment mistake

Think I made a big mistake. I read the question wrong I think. It said “critically discuss” which I think means to give a balanced essay. Mine is definitely not that, with it being a very clear stance. Not a lot of time to rectify the issue!

Any advice??

To quickly fix the issue, try add in a couple of paragraphs supporting the other side, then make the conclusion balanced, i dont know the topic, but something like some authors say this and this about xyz... but other say .... about this. This concludes the different opinions about this topic....
Defo chatgpt it to help yourself out too , make them write the conclusion and paragraphs if you want but proof check and adjust tone. !! hope this helps xx

A critical discussion does not necessarily need to be balanced, but expectations can vary based on discipline. Often, this idea of 'balance' comes from A Level, but that way of writing is really not very sophisticated.

I know that for philosophy (for example), as long as you discuss the viewpoint in question, it can be (indeed, I often teach, should be) characteristically one-sided insofar as your argument should be strong enough to dispatch the other viewpoint(s), and should do this consistently, making minimal concessions.

You do not need to 'support' the other side, simply give it a fair, charitable representation and then proceed to knock it down with your own argument(s), and a strong conclusion based upon that same argument.

Thank you for your response. I was able to get some alternatives viewpoints in.
