Sixth Form

Hey guys,

This is my latest set of results from my Year 10 Autumn Term Exam: 999 9-8 888 5. The 5 is in computer science and it was only because I am still figuring out the mark schemes and the best way to revise computer science. However, my aspirations are 99999999 9-9, A in Add Maths, the highest grade in Further Maths & an A* in an ancient language that I'm doing. I think it might be achievable looking at my grades now.

My future aspirations are to do BSc Finance at LSE and then break into investment banking (and yes don't worry I know the hours and I'm fine with it  ).

I do know that with my current school's sixth form, I have 0% of landing at LSE and slim chances of going to Oxford E&M. I am willing to change sixth forms. Some of the options I've considered are:
- KCLMS
- ICLMS (not keen though)
- HBS
- NLCS
I would love to attain some advice as to these sixth form / my best bets / more suggestions and advice in general. I would love to give any more details should you need.

Thank you so much for your help in advance!

Kclms is an excellent option if you genuinely enjoy maths. Your grades are very strong right now. For computer science the best thing you can do is fully understand the content and if you have to learn a language then practice is the best way. If you don't enjoy maths that much then I'd recommend going for a different option

Thank you so much! I love maths, especially a-level maths (for context: I'm doing OCR FMSQ Additional Maths) and I absolutely love the calculus aspects and just everything about it and I've heard that it's equivalent to year 1 pure a level maths. Thank you so much for the comp sci tips, I do python and I'd definitely agree with the practice

Why do you think you can’t get into LSE/Oxbridge at your sixth form(

Looking at the past years, no one has ever gotten into LSE, and Oxford - it's only Philosophy & Theology. It's because our school is a faith school and academics is not excellent ☹️

for context i also did add maths and im currently doing a level maths and fm.
there is very little overlap between add maths and pure year 1. integration and logs overlap, apart from that its mainly gcse fm that overlaps with pure year 1. im in y12 so havent done y2 pure yet but from what ive done so far there isnt much overlap.

DO NOT COME TO HBS. the maths department here is quite bad, i wont name names but over half the teachers are strraight up bad, one of them (my one) does NOT teach at all, she watches k dramas in lesson
hbs is made a good school due to the pupils, not the teachers, so if you join then prepare to be frustrated and do all thw work youself !!!
go to kclms or maybe even dr challoners dependent on where you live

Ahhh! Honestly though, I'm pretty much used to doing everything myself... none of my teachers want to teach and just tell us to revise for another subject half the time so in that sense, it's all good 🙂
